The environment in which our children are being taught is going through a major change. The Government has committed to an ambitious programme of rebuilding and renewal to transform the learning and working environment in secondary education. The programme touches every aspect of better design including heating,
cooling and ventilation.
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the largest single government investment in improving school buildings for over 50 years.
Xpelair natural ventilation systems are designed to satisfy all of the criteria specified, reduce energy costs by up to 40% and significantly reduce carbon emissions. Xpelair systems will comply with Building Regulations Part F2 for ventilation and Part L2 Conservation of Fuel and Power.

Xpelair has over 50 years experience in designing
ventilation solutions. We can offer a range of design services from simple product selection through to full
service compliance consultancy.
As part of the Applied Energy group we are able to offer integrated designs when required; selecting appropriate technologies for schools from our range of Low Carbon
heating, hot water appliances,
solar collectors and wind turbines.
Individually applied systems take advantage of the design and orientation of the school, the changing temperature throughout the day, night, and regional seasonal profiles to optimise comfort and minimise energy loss.

Xpelair natural ventilation - in a class of its own
In accordance with Bulletin 101, each classroom will require its own individual system and autocontrols.
Natural selection
At the heart of each classroom system is a fully automatic controls package, designed to make optimum use of the naturally available outside conditions whilst responding to internal CO2 and occupancy levels via CO2 sensors.
The energy savings of an Xpelair natural ventilation system can be significant. A typical school with twenty classrooms could realise a saving of 40,000kW per annum over mechanical cooling. The installed cost is lower too - typically, saving 15%!
Xpelair delivers the best acoustic performance available - accredited lab tested Ambient Attenuators© to keep noises from playgrounds and traffic from interfering in the learning process.
